By introducing double-height spaces and playful view lines throughout the building we introduce a sense of spaciousness within this narrow home
NEW BUILT HOME ALONG THE RINGDIJK
Location: Ringdijk, Amsterdam
Size: 110 m2
Sandwiched between typical Amsterdam houses lies a narrow plot of 2,5m wide and 24m deep. These dimensions asked for a creative approach for the infill of this two storey new-built house.
By introducing a patio where the inhabitants will live around, tons of daylight will enter the place. Several voids, high ceilings and the central staircase add spaciousness and emphasise the interconnection of the floors. This will result in a dynamic space with different lines of sight, where open and intimate spaces alternate.
The large two storey high glass facade floods the entrance area with daylight and has a border of perforated paneling with 11 custom built integrated bird houses along the roof edge, making this home more than just a habitat of people.
wooden boulder grips provide playful access to the top floor whilst keeping fit
11 custom built integrated birdhouses within the front facade provide a home for sparrows
the centrally placed patio provides light and air to the surrounding spaces
